BeachBows top UW 3-2, finish road trip 6-1

The No. 15 Hawai’i beach volleyball team split its two Sunday duals against Pac-12 schools, falling to No. 9 Arizona 4-1 and defeating Washington 3-2 in Seattle.

The BeachBows (14-8) have a bye week before heading to the Big West Championships hosted by Long Beach State, April 30-May 1. Hawai’i won the first three BWC titles while Cal Poly won in 2019.

Hawai’i went 6-1 at Alki Beach, gong undefeated in winning all five matches in the Husky Invitational..

On Sunday, the BeachBows split its matches, In the first against the Wildcats (19-4) it was tied 1-1 after a 21-16, 18-21, 15-9 victory by Amber Igiede-Brooke Van Sickle at No. 2 and a narrow 23-21, 22-20 loss at No. 4 by Harlee Kekauoha-Sabrina Hardisty.

Arizona won at Flight 3 to take a 2-1 lead. It came down to Flights 1 and 5 where No. 1 Pani Napoleon-Jaime Santer lost the deciding Set 3 15-14 and No. 5 Anna Maidment-Sofia Russo lost Set 3 15-13.

In the second dual with UW (4-11), Hawai’i clinched it 3-0 with wins at 2 4 and 5
