BeachBows stay at No. 15, USC new No. 1 in poll

The Hawai’i beach volleyball team remained at No. 15 in Tuesday’s AVCA Collegiate Beach Top 20.

The BeachBows (14-8) went 6-1 last weekend in Seattle, the lone loss coming to No. 9 Arizona. Hawai’i has the week off and next will compete at the Big West Tournament hosted by Long Beach State April 30-May 1). The BeachBows will be seeking their fourth conference title, having won in 2016, ’17 and ’18.

Cal Poly is the defending champion (2019). The Mustangs (17-8)  stayed at No. 6 in this week’s poll, and Beach (14-12) stayed at No, 18

All of Hawai’i’s losses have come to ranked teams: Cal Poly (three times), No. 9 Arizona (20-4), No, 10 Cal (13-9), No. 10 Stanford (17-8) and Long Beach State (twice)

USC replaced UCLA at No. 1, the Women of Troy (22-2( receiving all 17 voites after defeating the Bruins (24-2) 3-2 at the Center of Effort Challenge hosted by Cal Poly. All four of UCLA’s matches at the event were 3-2 decisions with the Bruins edging past Grand Canyon, Loyola Marymount and the Mustangs.

Florida State and LSU traded spots at 3-4, the Seminoles (28-4) up a spot and the Tigers (22-5) down one.
