Third-seeded Hawai’i and top-seeded Cal Poly are meeting Saturday for the second time in a few hours, this time to determine the Big West beach volleyball tournament champion at Long Beach, Calif.

Earlier today, the 15th-ranked BeachBows (17-8) upset the sixth-ranked Mustangs 3-2 in the championship bracket semifinal of the double-elimination event. Cal Poly (21-9) then eliminated second-seeded Long Beach State, 4-1, to earn a rematch with Hawai’i.

Should the Mustangs win, it would force second match to determine the champion. These two programs have combined to win all four of the previous tournament titles, Hawai’i the first three (2016-17-18) and Cal Poly one (2019, the last time tourney was held).

Same pairings as earlier today when Hawai’i won 3-2, a match that the BeachBows clinched at Flight 1, giving them an unsurmountable 3-1 lead. Hawai’i also won at Flights 4 and 5.
