The eight-team field for this week’s NCAA National Collegiate Beach Volleyball Tournament was announced Sunday with defending champion UCLA (2019 winner) the top seed. Pac-12 rival USC was seeded second followed by Florida State and LSU.

Loyola Marymount is seeded fifth with Stanford sixth, Cal Poly seventh and TCU eighth. The selection committee chose two west teams as its at-larges, that being the Cardinal and the Mustangs.

Play at Gulf Shores, Ala., begins Friday and runs through Sunday.

UCLA has won the last two NCAA titles (2018-19) while USC won the first two (2016-17). Playing for the Bruins is former SandBow Lea Monkhouse, the 2018 Big West Freshman of the Year.

Two former SandBows are playing for the Women of Troy in graduate student Julia Scoles and senior Paige Dreeuws.

All matches will be televised (unlike the men’s national championship)

Matches are on ESPNU on Friday, and ESPN2 Saturday and Sunday.
