(Thanks to Maverick for the note)
Hawai’i indoor and beach All-American Emily Maglio is part of the first Canadian team to compete in the Volleyball Nations League. Both the women’s and men’s competitions are being held “bubble format” in Remini, Italy.
The 16-team women’s tournament has 12 “core” teams (Brazil, China, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Netherlands, Russia, Serbia, Thailand, Turkey and the U.S.) and four “challenge” teams (Belgium, the Dominican Republic, Poland, and Canada). Canada won the latest FIVB Volleyball Challenger Cup to replace Bulgaria.
Play for the women starts Tuesday, May 25. For the men, it’s Friday, May 28.
Excellent, Cindy.
Emily is a starter in Today’s Match against Brazil. Good for her.
