VNL results: Bulgaria rallies past Netherlands

Reigning U.S. national college player of the year Rado Parapunov had seven kills and a block as Bulgaria came back to beat the Netherlands, 25-18, 18-25, 17-25, 25-22, 15-13 Friday in a Volleyball Nations League Week 3 match in Rimini, Italy.

Parapunov (Hawai’i), playing at L1, was 7-2-16. Former Warrior teammate Stijn van Tilburg had 2 kills (2-1-3) at opposite for the Nethlands.

The U.S. (4-4) is playing Serbia (6-2) (6 a.m. HST)

Kawika Shoji (‘Iolani) again setting. Micah Christenson (Kamehameha) is with wife and newborn son. Erik Shoji (Punahou) at libero.

Match to watch later will be Poland vs. Brazil, both 7-1, at 9 a.m. HST.

  1. I feel so blessed to have been able to see RocketRado playing volleyball in person. Cursing the pandemic and those who contributed to its longevity so that we missed last season.
