U.S. rallies past Netherlands, SVT with outstanding match

The U.S. men’s national team concluded Week 4 of Volleyball Nations League play with a 21-25, 25-17, 23-25, 25-15, 15-13 victory over the Netherlands Thursday in Rimini, Italy.

Micah Christenson (Kamehameha) returned at setter, finishing with 28 assists, 3 kills (3-0-4) and 3 aces.

Erik Shoji (Punahou) and Dustin Watten shared time at libero, both finishing with 7 digs.

Setter Kawika Shoji (‘Iolani) dressed but did not play. Middle Taylor Averill (Hawai’i) did not dress.

The U.S. (6-6) next plays Japan (6-6) to open Week 5 on June 23.

For the Netherlands (2-10), Stijn van Tilburg had his best match of the event, finishing with a team-high 19 points. Playing at OH, he had 15 kills (15-4-36) and 4 aces.
