WVB: Texas-Wisconsin remain 1-2 in latest AVCA Poll

Some shakeup but not at the top

Texas (7-0) and Wisconsin (6-0) remain 1-2. The Longhorns received 53 first-place votes, the Badgers 11.

Ohio State (8-0) alone at No. 3 with Pittsburgh (8-0), tied with the Buckeyes at No. 4 last week, staying at 4.

Louisville (6-0) jumped five spots from No. 10 to No. 5. Not sure why the Cardinals moved up to far after sweeps of Purdue and at Xavier.

Former No. 3 Nebraska (6-1) dropped to No. 6 after losing AT HOME 3-2 to then-No. 20 Utah. The win moved the Utes up 10 spots to No. 10.

Florida (4-3), losing twice  at home to then-No. 17 Baylor, falls from No. 7 to No. 14. The Bears (3-3) up to 12.

Still not much love for San Diego (5-2). The Toreros handed then-No. 16 UCLA (5-1) its first lost last week. The Bruins dropped to No. 19. San Diego’s losses are at No. 1 Texas 3-0 to open the season and at Utah 3-1 in the same tournament Hawai’i went to.

HAL champion Marquette (6-20 Lost twice last week at home but still at No. 26, just outside the poll. The Golden Eagles were swept by defending national champion Kentucky and Wisconsin in their first home matches of the season.

And not much love for undefeated West Virginia (8-0), coached by Hilo alum Reed Sunahara. The Mountaineers have 5 points, putting them at 33rd.

  1. Speaking of Texas – Devin Kahahawai has verbally committed to Texas 🙁 ….not sure if you have already reported…sad news for UH fans…..
