I am so sad to hear of the passing of Rockne Freitas. Lots of “old time” time stories with him starting in the 80s. He was a large man and I remember convincing him he could do the Honolulu Marathon (hey if I could so could he). And he did the Molokai Hoe too, sitting No. 4. (not sure how he go in the canoe but he did).
He had a vision for UH, and the UH system. Wanted to bring football to a couple of the UH neighbor island campuses and also to West Oahu, where he hoped to create at DII program for the PacWest. He wanted to call them the Owls.
