Congrats to Van Sickle-Glagau, BWC Pair of Week; BeachBows host Nebraska, Texas today

After a perfect weekend on the sand, the Hawai’i tandem of Kaylee Glagau and Brooke Van Sickle earned their first Big West weekly honor of 2023, the fifth overall for the pair.

  • The 2022 Big West Pairs Team of the Year went 5-0 on the weekend at the No. 1 flight, helping UH to the Heineken Queen’s Cup title. Their victories included No. 14 Washington and No. 11 California in the tournament title match.

    Glagau-Van Sickle captured the clinching point in the 3-2 win over Cal, overcoming a 10-6 deficit in the third set for an eventual 21-11, 17-21, 15-13 win. Glagau was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.

  • Glagau-Van Sickle needed just two sets to take care of the top pairs from Texas, Nebraska and Oregon, with no final set score in the three matches coming closer than seven points.
  • The All-American duo is 11-1 on the year and has won eight straight matches, helping the BeachBows to a 10-match winning streak.
