From UH:

The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) announced its 2023 AVCA Top Flight Award winners with two  University of Hawai’i pairs making the list. The All-American pair  of Kaylee Glagau-Brooke Van Sickle and No. 5 pair of Chandler Cowell-Sydney Miller ere recognized.

This year marks the fifth class of the award which started in 2018 and is designed to recognize excellence in beach volleyball from all over the country and across all flights. In order for a pair to be eligible for the award, the two athletes must compete in at least 15 matches together and at a specific flight number. Should that pair win at least 75 percent of their matches – regardless of the overall result of the dual – they achieve “Top Flight” status.

Glagau (So., Mississauga, Canada) and Van Sickle (Sr., Battle Ground, Wash.) earned the award for the second straight season after finishing the regular season with a 27-2 mark, winning at a remarkable 93 percent clip at the top of the order. It is the third citation this week for the dynamic duo who have previously been named the Big West Pair of the Year. and to the AVCA All-America first team.

Meanwhile, Chandler (Sr., Kula, Maui) and Miller (Fr., San Diego, Calif.) gained Top Flight status for the first time after the pair went 18-6 (.750) at the No. 5 flight. After first being paired together three days into the season, they were nearly unstoppable winning 14 of their first 15 matches. Earlier this week the duo was named All-Big West honorable mention.

UH now has a dozen Top Flight citations in the last five years with five coming in 2018, three in 2019, two in 2021 and one in 2022.
