As mentioned on earlier thread, please forgive for going dark the past few weeks. Had a lot going on and just returned from New Zealand. Will explain more later but you may have seen some news items about my “officially” retiring. It’s more that CindyLuis.com won’t be the daily volleyball blog it has been since 2020, or the VolleyShots for more than a decade prior to that. Promise not to totally walk away but won’t be covering every UH volleyball match (Wahine and Warrior) from now on.
Thank you to everyone for being such loyal readers.
But as for WahineVB:

Hawai’i coach Robyn Ah Mow said a few years ago that the next foreign trip that the Wahine would make would be to Brazil, one of her all-time favorite places to play. Now that things are a bit back to normal after COVID, the Wahine are doing just that.
UH began its 13-day trip in Sāo Paulo, arriving last Saturday. The Wahine won their opener Monday against Sāo Caetano do Sul 25-22, 21-25, 25-16, 25-18, 15-10.
This is the first trip Hawai’i has made since 2015 (under coach Dave Shoji) when the Wahine went to Italy, Slovenia and Czech Republic. That was such a fun trip. Got to go with them for the Star-Advertiser. #WahineEuro
Hawai’i now heads to Rio de Janeiro where the Wahine will stay for three days and have a match on Thursday. On June 3, UH will bus to Saquarerma, where the Brazil national team’s training center is, for two days and a match on June 3. Hawai’i will conclude the tour in Arraial do Cabo for the final two
Among the sights the ‘Bows will see are the Fiera da Praca Benedicto Calixto (Open Market), Christ the Redeemer in Rio, Pao de Azucar (Sugarloaf Mountain), and Arraial do Cabo which is known for its white sand beaches.
“This trip is a time to bond, play some really great matches, and take that experience into this coming season,” Ah Mow said in a release from UH. “I loved playing there (with the U.S. National team). It’s kind of like Hawai’i where the fans are crazy for volleyball. It will be a great experience for the girls culturally wise and obviously the talent there is some of the best in the world. We are excited to go!”
Much mahalos Cindy! Glad to hear you won’t go totally incognito, lol. Already miss your writing. Is it true that Chandler Cowell is out due to ACL injury?
Will you be allowed in the press box at some Wahine games? Would like to come say hello! Thank you for all you do and have done for us! GO BOWS!
yes on Cowell. I’ll be down on press row occasionally. most likely for season opener, the tournament with ucla in it and senior night. Come by.
Happy to hear that you’ll still be posting from time-to-time!
thank you. Easing out slowly. couldn’t handle cold turkey.
