Hawai’i women’s volleyball today announced the signing of junior transfer, Paula Guersching. Guersching, a 6-2 OH coming in from Youngstown (Ohio) State.
The German national was YSU’s first ever AVCA All-America Honorable Mention awardee and was the first Penguin to be voted the Horizon League’s Player of the Year as well as Offensive Player of the Year. Nationally last season she ranked in the top five nationally in several categories—f\third with 5.24 kill/set and 5.87 points/set; fifth with 12.84 attacks/set and 576 total kills; and sixth with 646.0 total points—all of which were Youngstown State single-season records. She set league records for kills in a season during the 25-point, rally-scoring era, and her 35 kills at Northern Kentucky were the most ever in a 25-point rally-scoring match.She had 1,006 kills in two seasons with the Penguins.

And, no, I don’t know why Ham Westerberg and DeGoode did not make it to Brazil with the Wahine.

Tread Rosenthal, the U.S. Junior National Team starting setter, is forgoing his senior year at Mira Costa and will be enrolling at UH this fall. Most recently named the MVP of the 2023 Pan Am Cup.
Rosenthal is the eighth player to join the team for the 2024 season along with Kevin Kauling (S, Naperville, Ill.), Aleksa Mandic (OH/OPP, Belgrade, Serbia), Oguzhan Oguz (OPP, Bursa, Turkey), Kai Rodriguez (Gilroy, Calif.), Ryan Sears (Redondo Beach, Calif.), Justin Todd (OH, Houston, Texas), and Zack Yewchuk (OPP, Surrey, British Columbia).

On Thursday, Kainoa Wade, the 6-8 OH son of Warrior coach Charlie, gave his verbal committ to the Warriors. Class of 2026.
It appears that A. DeGoode will not be returning according to a social media post.

Wow. Sad to hear that Sheward is transferring. I’m assuming he wanted to set more for the next season, but with two new setters coming in, it would be too crowded. Sorry to see him go, but wish nothing but the best for him.
Agree. I hope whoever he transfers to is playing UH in 24. And he can get his “senior night”
